I am an artist who likes to make vector drawings with Inkscape which have a particular style due to their use of gradient and may remind you of something, and I mean Flash style and Y2K style.
Obviously I didn't know in the year 2000, since I am only 16 years old at the time of writing this post, but since I was little I have been attracted to this retro style, so to speak, which I have tried to replicate in my art, although with very poor results so far.
The Flash style
If I remember correctly, I really liked the detailed style that Android apps had in 2015 and the same on my laptop, although due to those details I couldn't load pages or data quickly because of my internet at that time. What I liked most were the YouTube animations of that time, which had that Flash style that we all recognize, I even loved the Sonic RPG video game saga and I still love it today.
I think this is already a lot of nostalgia for my childhood and I think we better move on to the next point.
Flash and Paint
You read that right, it says Paint, the drawing software that became a meme in the artist community, but let's be honest, I was just a kid creating his own animations and art, and I also didn't know about the existence of Krita and my beloved Inkscape. My art at that time was terrible and my Flash animations were just geometric figures or PNGs moving around the screen.
Then, after a few years, I entered high school and began to learn how to use other programs, but for some reason, I still retain the style I longed for at that time.
My style today
My style is still very beginner-like and I want to improve it with each drawing, and for that reason I hardly ever publish any drawings in a row, but have you noticed anything particular about my style? It reminds you of something? Well, you're absolutely right, it has a style heavily influenced by Flash and Y2K.
My artistic style usually uses a gradient or simple shading to give it detail, which makes it a bit particular, although I have obviously made mistakes with the gradient making it look very plastic. I'm not very good yet.
Conclusion
I am a very small artist and I still have a long way to go, but it makes me feel happy to share the origin of my vector style, and I hope you have found it interesting to hear my little story. I wish to improve over time and be on par with the great artists of this community.
As I have said many times, I am not a very experienced artist and obviously I make mistakes, so if you have seen my drawings and maybe you did not like them, you can leave me a suggestion to improve, I am always open to constructive criticism.
